The spat over the border state of Arunachal Pradesh did not stand in the way of India and China signing an agreement to combat climate change. The agreement was signed on October 21 at the two-day international conference on technology transfer for climate change organized in Delhi.

The (diplomatic) differences are not important for China and India when it comes to climate change. Both countries are collaborating for a fair and equitable outcome at Copenhangen (December summit), said Jairam Ramesh, Union environment minister.

Xie Zhenhua, the minister for national development and reform commission of China and Ramesh agreed that the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and its Kyoto Protocol are the appropriate framework for addressing climate change. The two nations will cooperate on mitigation policies and technology development for greenhouse gas emission reduction.
