Containment zones to remain out of bounds
India’s Union home ministry on May 29, 2020 said the country-wide lockdown to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) — due to run out the next day — will be increased only in containment zones. Everywhere else, it would be lifted in phases.

Religious places, hospitality services and shopping malls will open in the first phase from June 8, 2020.
Educational institutes will be discussed with states in July.
A decision on air travel, metro railways, entertainment services (such as cinemas), gymansiums, etc and large congregations will be taken later.
India had 86,422 active cases as of May 29 morning.
The number of new cases registered a jump of 7,964.
The global tally of infections crossed six million.
