COVID-19 has killed more than 61,000 in US

United States President Donald Trump said his government would not extend social-distancing guidelines, set to expire May 5, 2020, the Guardian daily reported.

  • The US has already lost over 61,000 lives to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), according to aggregator Worldometers.info.
  • Its tally of people infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus is also the most in the world, at 1.06 million.
