MarineBio.org showcases marine life and uncovers some of the mysteries surrounding the ocean to inspire people to appreciate and work towards its conservation. Run by an eponymous organisation based in Houston Texas, USA, the portal has a broad target audience: from students at all academic levels to scientists and policymakers. It talks about marine life, ocean science and the problems facing the marine environment.

Every page of the website includes beautiful photographs and provides information on species habitat, feeding behavior, life history or ecology and finally, its status, whether threatened or endangered. One of the sections tells how climate change threatens the ocean environment.

MarineBio.org also has an interactive Plankton Forums--an online bulletin board. The bulletin reaches out to students, marine biologists and many others.

For the students its a good opportunity to interact with marine biologists. They can also talk about mundane matters like career opportunities in marine science. The site also provides students of marine biology, links to academic institutions and labs offering curricula in the various disciplines related to the study of oceans.

Of course, the students can also take up more academic concerns like details on individual marine species or other matters pertaining to life in oceans. So if you are a marine life buff click on to www.marinebio.org
