The Delhi High Court recently directed senior government officials to take appropriate steps to control noise and air pollution caused by firecrackers during Diwali. A division bench comprising Justice Y K Sabharwal and Justice K S Gupta directed that a meeting be convened by officials of the Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi Fire Department and the Chief Controller of Explosives to submit suggestions with regard to pollution control to the court. The meeting will be held at the office of amicus curaie Madan Lokur, following which court will issue appropriate directions.
