white tigers detained: Pakistan's National Council for Conservation of Wildlife cancelled the no-objection certificate (NOC) a few days after it issued one to Lahore zoo for importing two white tigers. Traffickers had actually smuggled the tigers in question into the country from Indonesia four months ago and sold them to Lahore zoo. Attempting to regularize their status, the zoo authorities approached the council for permission to have two white tigers imported, without informing that the animals had already been delivered to the zoo. After media reports highlighted the irregularities, the council cancelled the NOC and ordered an enquiry.
