>> The weekly news service on the environment and development, Tierramrica, was awarded the Zayed International Prize in the category of Environmental Action Leading to Positive Change in Society, presented by the United Arab Emirates government. Announcing the prize, the organizers said Tierramrica provides a space for debate, drawing a range of actors from Latin America.
>> Pioneering work to develop the world's largest purification plant for groundwater recharge has earned Orange County Water District and Orange County Sanitation District in California the Stockholm Industry Water award for 2008. The award will be presented to the district's representatives in August.
