Residents of the Chapai-Nawabganj area have demanded affective steps to check the erosion of rivers, including the Padma. About 25,000 people from different areas in the region have also threatened to launch a massive agitation if the government fails to take positive steps. As many as 18 shops of Basudevpur market under Godagari thana of Rajshahi district were inundated during the last flood. In a statement, the Padma Bhangan Pratirodh Parishad said that the erosion-affected people will form a human chain to attract the government's attention towards their plight.
