Environmental violators in Russia will have to pay heavier fines following a recent federal law passed by president Vladimir Putin.
The law introduces changes to the 'Administrative Code of Russian Federation'. The areas covered by the code include non-observance of ecological requirements in planning, designing, building and use of enterprises, constructions or other objects.
The code also includes cases of non-fulfillment of ecological and sanitary-epidemiological requirements in the treatment of industrial wastes, violation of rules of treatment of pesticides, agricultural chemicals and legislations.
