The Supreme Court has issued notices to over 1000 'hazardous' industrial units to explain why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against them for not surrendering their excess lands to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for environmental usage. The court had asked the units to shift out of the capital in 1997 after they had been identified as major polluting units. They had also been directed to surrender their excess land to DDA for raising greenery.
