» Seven anti Coca-Cola agitators in Plachimada participated in a relay hunger strike to commemorate seven years of their movement against the soft drink major. The agitation sought permanent closure of the cola unit and compensation for farmers affected by large-scale extraction of groundwater by the company.

» Remember Eliphas Part 2, a Nambibian feature film on AIDS has scooped the best film award as well as four other major ones in the Windhoek International Film Festival. The film won the best film, best cinematography, best script, best actor and best actress awards. The film, Skymaster, also won two awards in the categories of best editing and best director.
