promoting good practice
This site aims to promote good environment practices by linking conservation and poverty. It is a project led by the Poverty and Conservation Learning Group (PCLG). The UK-based group is an initiative coordinated by the International Institute for Environment and Development and is funded by the Ford Foundation.
The site provides four fully searchable and freely accessible databases. The bibliographic database provides details of the literature on conservation-poverty linkages. It can be searched for publications by organisations, themes, authors or geographical key word. A case studies-based database captures, through limited but successful and practical real-life experiences, issues which address linkages between conservation and poverty reduction and document strategies employed in making these linkages. It provides details of case studies with external web links.
A database records details of organisations working on conservation, poverty and development. These range from donor agencies to grassroots organisations. An initiatives database describes significant international initiatives designed to explore the links between conservation and poverty from broad poverty-environment programmes to focused single-issue agendas. Though the site is under construction, it provides valuable material.
