Prevalence of anaemia among children between the ages of six months and five years has increased to 67.1 per cent in 2019-21, from 58.6 per cent in 2015-16, Mansukh Mandaviya, minister of health and family welfare, told the Lok Sabha.
The minister referred to the fifth round of the National Family Health Survey, conducted by the ministry of health and family welfare during 2019-21.
Hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and high altitude sickness are the common non-communicable diseases in Ladakh, Bharati Pravin Pawar, minister of state in the ministry of health and family welfare, told the Lok Sabha.
An annual health coverage of Rs 5 lakh per eligible family is provided under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri-Jan Arogya Yojana, he added.
A total of 1.18 lakh individuals from 30,042 families are provided with Ayushman cards. They can avail cashless and paperless treatment for the identified procedures in any of the empanelled hospitals, Pawar added.
The contribution of non-communicable Diseases to India’s Disability Adjusted Life Years increased to 55.4 per cent in 2016 from 30.5 per cent in 1990, Pawar told the Lok Sabha.
The minister was referring to a report by the Indian Council of Medical Research.
India ranks 135 among 146 countries in the Global Gender Gap Index, 2022, Smriti Zubin Irani, minister of women and child development, told the Lok Sabha.
As per the Global Gender Gap Report 2021, India was ranked at 140 out of 156 countries, she added.
India’s life expectancy at birth has increased by 2.0 years compared to 2016, Pawar told the Lok Sabha.
He was referring to a recent report, World Health Statistics 2022, published by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The Government of India has set 2023 as the target year for eliminating Kala-azar, Pawar told the Lok Sabha. Out of 633 Kala-azar endemic blocks, 625 blocks (98.7 per cent) have achieved the elimination target by 2021, he added.
The government of Kerala has additionally authorised Rs 206.305 crores for the disbursement of compensation to Endosulfan victims, Narendra Singh Tomar, minister of agriculture and farmers welfare, told the Rajya Sabha.
Financial assistance of Rs 204,7450,000 has already been sanctioned to 5193 persons by the State Government, he added.
Budget allocation to agriculture has increased by five times, Tomar told the Rajya Sabha.
The allocation for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has increased to Rs. 1,32,513.62 crores in 2022-23 to from 27662.67 crores in 2013-14, he added.
