The Delhi government is planning to approach the Supreme Court to permit autorickshaws and taxis that are 15 years' old and running on compressed natural gas (CNG) to ply in the capital. The court prohibits autorickshaws and taxis older than 10 years from operating in Delhi. According to a spokesperson of the Delhi environment ministry, the government was now planning to file a petition on the ground that since other commercial vehicles were allowed to ply in the city for 15 years, a similar rule should be applicable to autorickshaws and taxis.
