A new palm-sized digital recorder, Total Recall, serves as a good replacement to the current dictaphones. Being digital, Total Recall offers several advantages. As there are no tapes, endless rewinding or fast forwarding to find the wanted segment can be done away with. Existing messages can be selectively erased or added to at the touch of a button. The voice notes can also be downloaded to a PC, a facility not offered with other pocket-sized digi tal recorders. The recorder, which weighs almost 90 gm and is made by Sycom Technologies, Pennsylvania, is priced at US $99-199 ( Popular Science , Vol 249, No 5).
