Stir against Tipaimukh: Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina told the country's parliament she would resolve the issue of Tipaimukh dam with India through bilateral talks. The construction of the dam on the Borak river in Manipur has become a major political issue in the country and has triggered widespread protests.

A parliamentary delegation, including members of opposition Bangladesh National Party, would visit India soon to assess the impact of the proposed dam.

Oil prices rocket: Pakistan has raised fuel prices in the country by 12 per cent by imposing a carbon tax. The government justified the raise saying it was in keeping with the international oil prices. The country is expected to raise approximately PKRs 120 billion (US$ 1.5 billion) through the new tax.

Pakistani people said the increase in fuel prices would lead to inflation.
