Bangladesh wary of World Bank: Bangladesh has opposed UK’s Department for International Development’s (DFID) plan to provide US $94 million in climate change aid because it will be delivered through the World Bank. “We are against World Bank's involvement in handling the aid. DFID should give the money straight to the government,” Abdur Razzaque, food and disaster management minister, said. “The Bank would attach strings and conditions to the programme,” Razzaque said. The government has agreed to allow the Bank to provide technical assistance.
