A new product developed by the Southeastern Regional Energy (SRE) -- a subdivision of the Illawarra Electricity Inc -- in New South Wales, Australia, is Platypus Power, a small and cost-effective hydrogenerator. Capable of maintaining a continuous power output of 2000 watts when placed in the path of a mountain stream, this device can effectively run household appliances like lights, fans, refrigerators and ovens. It is ideal for remote locations where transportation of power through traditional means like cables is difficult.
