A public hearing will be held to decidethe future of the KlongDan water treatmentproject in Samut Prakan, Thailand. Science minister Arthit Ourairat said, "Two technical hearings have been arranged to see whether the project has a future. However, academics were viewing it differently and the hearing's conclusion is being synthesised."
Already environment impact assessment ( eia ) reports are being prepared on the project which willbe dropped if it is foundto be causing irreparable damage to the environment and the livelihood of thevillagers.
The project, funded by the Asian Development Bank ( adb ) has been severely criticised by people from the Klong Dan and Song Klong regions in the Bang Bo district for lack of transparency in its implementation.
