A new la'ser developed by dental equipment manufacturer KaVoUK Limited shall save kids from the dreaded ordeal they face at the dentist's. The use of lasers, though common in dentistry, has had limited success due to their inability to remove both the materials composing a tooth: the hard outer enamel and the softer inner dentine. Lasers currently have the capacity to remove only one of these. Although the new laser produces a concentrated beam that cuts through both the layers, it is fit for use on children only. The laser is much too slow to be able totreat adult dental problems like removing old metal fillings.
