The Supreme Court (SC) and the National Wildlife Board will decide the fate of the Andhra Pradesh government's proposal on the Polavaram Dam Project. The state government had asked for permission to build the dam inside the Papikonda Wildlife Sanctuary, which is spread over the West Godavari, Khammam and East Godavari districts. The SC had earlier issued guidelines for development activities in national parks and reserved forests. The proposal was forwarded by the Union ministry of environment and forests.
