the Europeon Union (eu) may stop imports of us products ranging from motorcycles to furniture worth us $2 billion if us does not compensate the eu for lost steel trade. These sanctions aimed to put pressure on us to take back its steel tariffs, include products for which the eu is not dependent on us imports. The product list includes watches, guns and citrus fruits. Many us states like West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Florida would be hit by eu retaliation. Florida produces a major chunk of the processed orange juice supplies, that are exported to Europe. According to the World Trade Organisation rules, the eu should notify its list of us products for retaliatory action by May 20, 2002.
