In a recent move to put an end to the inopportune methods for disposing municipal solid waste , a division bench of the Supreme Court has directed the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to start door to door collection of garbage for this purpose. The division bench stated that there is no reason why MCD cannot depute employees for door to door collection of garbage, at least in the government residential areas. According to the division bench, a scheme like 'Swachcha Bangalore', which has been implemented by the Bangalore government as part of its cleaning drive, should be the role model for other cities, especially Delhi.
