This video analyses how the mission works on the ground and whether Puri and Bhubaneswar can be used as models to implement such schemes across other cities in India
In August 2019, the Government of Odisha started the ‘Drink from Tap Mission’. It was initiated by the Water Corporation of Odisha (WATCO) and aimed to achieve universal coverage of piped drinking water supply in urban areas.
Initially, pilot projects were successfully implemented at selected locations in the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) area and Puri town. Pilot zones were established and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the scheme after these eight pilot zones were completed.
Puri became the first city to achieve the target. After successful implementation in Puri, the mission was introduced in Bhubaneswar. This video analyses how the mission works on the ground and whether Puri and Bhubaneswar can be used as models to implement such schemes across other cities in India.
