Organisations such as Amazon Watch, Coletivo Por Um Brasil Democrático and Avaaz said “Bolsonaro had shown the world his lack of concern and care regarding the rights and voices of indigenous peoples in Brazil, as well as the rights of their territories and nature in the Amazon Rainforest”. The rally was also aimed at garnering support for indigenous peoples, respecting their rights and urging the protection and defence of the Amazon Rainforest. “This means not making deals with state leaders like Bolsonaro that seek to destroy and commodify indigenous territories while removing their ancestral rights to their lands”, the organisations said in a statement. “The Amazon Rainforest is at the tipping point and we are the ones who must demand action and change”, the statement said. This photo shows attendees at the rally. Photo: Amazon Watch
