Coronavirus update: World tally crosses 8 mln
Everyday, 100,000+ new cases being added

The tally of total cases positivr to the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 across the world was at 8,113,679 by June 16, 2020 morning, according to private aggregator Worldometers.info.
- World Health Organization chief Tedros A Ghebreyesus pointed out that while first 100,000 cases were spread over two months, now those many new cases were being recorded everyday.
- The United States National Science Foundation and the British Antarctic Survey have cancelled field research in Antarctica this summer, the Science magazine reported.
- India’s tally of total cases reached 343,091 June 15, according to the central health ministry.
- It marked an addition of 10,997 new cases over 24 hours.
- There were 153,178 active cases in the country.
- The death toll increased by 380 to 9,900.
