  • I happened to go through MoE&F 2008 report on status of sewage water treatment plants across India. The eye catching factor in that report is improper and or non of Methane gas that evolves during the treatment. In many cases the project authorities has no provision for generating power from that "green field gas" which if let off freely adds to pollution or even if engine is provided, mostly they don't work at the time of report study team visit.
It is also mentioned in the report that which ever sewage treatment plant where engine is provided to produce power from evolved Methane gas, most engines do not work since ordinary engines need minimum of 50% Methane content for satisfactory performance.
It is in the above context I wish to suggest govt./ consultants to try a revolutionary generator called Micro Turbine Generator (MTG) which can operate continuously with out requirement of cooling water and lubricating oil. This generator can operate smoothly even at Methane content as low as 30 %.
I request project engineering consultants involved in "Namami Gange" project to try at least one unit of MTG as pilot test trial.
Contact my mail if any body needs more detail on MTG.
